Why "La fee verte": Well, La Fee Verte is another name for Absinthe. Absinthe is an infamous drink of the Romantic Period. It is a bright green mix of Worm Wood, anise and alcohol. It is reknowned for it's ability to induce dreams, fuel creativity, lead to addictions and even eventually lead to insanity. It was the drink of poets, artists and the bourgeois. Absinthe is also known as "The Green Muse"."La Fee Verte" translates to The Green Fairy. This is where I come in. Firstly, as a historian, I have an obsession with the Romantic period. Secondly, I am very much a self-proclaimed artist and writer. Finally, one of the many nicknames I have acquired over the years is The Green Faerie. How fitting, non? Finally, I also have a love for the art of Art Nouveau. My favourites include advertisements, such as Absinthe Robette, as well as works by Alphonse Mucha. So, La fee verte stands for a delirious artistic frenzy, a reflection and appreciation of the past and dancing on the edge of madness.

This specific layout was inspired by spring, which seems to sneak in every so often here in Ottawa these days. Also, I wanted something with that distinct Art Nouveau feel to it, which is ever so french and ever so appropriate for the Absinthe theme. Plus, it adds a nice Baccic flare to the site.

Tools: I use Adobe Photoshop 5.0 to do my layouts. I used "Summertime" (by Sara) as my font and I used a few brushes (If you know the owner, let me know. I can't seem to find a name to these). I use Arachnophilia 4.0 for my HTML editing. The picture clipper I use is by Iron (Fe) and the image mapper is MapEdit by Boutell. Finally, I use Colour Picker by Techvision to match my colours perfectly :D. My server is with the ever so wonderful ClickHost. I recommend these guys to EVERYONE. They are simply awesome.
