The Knitting Maevan: A page of craftiness

Another huge post as a result of procrastination, emotional turmoil and stress.
Anyway, that aside, here's my weekend:

Friday night, Lis took me out to dinner. Saturday, she and I went out to the
Ladyfest Craftsale. It was fabulous! The sun was shining, we were hot mamas, and
we were on a mission of fun. I walked away with most of my cash intact, having
only purchased a wonderfully gaudy 5$ brooch. The purpose of this brooch is the
cute cabled shrug of the summer Interweave, found here.

What do you think? Pat gave me an amusing response to it: "Heather, you really
dig ugly things, don't you?" All the same, I adore it. Oak leaf, maple leaf,
grass and red. All of my favourite things mashed into one brooch!

After the craftsale, we went shopping. For the most part, we stuck to clothing
stores and yarn shops, though walked away with very little before stopping by
Yarn Forward. There Lis treated me to some goodies, and I picked some up on my
own as well. I managed to buy a few things for my secret pal, some needles to
start on Sarah Beth's poncho (Jesus, 15US and 17US circs are priiiiicey). Lis'
gifts to me were two balls of Jo Sharp Soho Summer in Cloudless and two sets of
circs to work on this lovely:

Unfortunately, after doing a swatch, it turns out I'm going to need to buy some
more circs. My guage is waaaaay off. Like, 22sts when it should be 16. Boo. Oh
well. It still turned out lovely.

Here's a better picture in
terms of capturing the colour. After all of our shopping, we went back home and
watched Hitch which was suitably cute.

Speaking of cute, another kitty pic. Funny, I used to hate those blogs with a
ton of cat pictures. Now I understand.

So, now on to my birthday itself. I woke up and was promptly smothered in love
from my kitty. Unfortunately, his claws are a little on the long and sharp side
and my legs were a little on the bare and vulnerable side.

Around 2pm we (Pat, Lis and myself) headed off to my parents place. There we had
dinner, watched Amelie and knitted. A good night all around. I learned several
things that day. Firstly, my brother is a girlmagnet. Second, no matter how
gross I feel about myself or my weight, a little red dress still transforms me
into a babe. Thirdly, babes get better service at Tim Horton's. Fourthly, Amelie
is my favourite movie of all time. If I could sneak into any place, fiction or
non, it would be Amelie's world, with Newford (of Charles de Lint fame) as a
close second. So, some pictures for you:

Lis, Me and Pat. I'm blowing out the candles on my angel food cake. (Duh)

Pa, Tracy (lil sister) and Mike (big brother).

It was a good birthday, though lowkey. No parties for me.

In other news, I've finally finished the back of the Rebecca cardi! I'm working
on the left front right now. Man, are these patterns confusing. Ridiculously so.
Oh well. I'll plod through it. I'll post a picture once I have batteries for my
camera.

Since my birthday, I've been working and trying to get my mind back into school.
I'm really far behind. Oh well. I've also been reading. I'm on the third book in
the Chronicles of Narnia. I also read The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants.

Well, it's supper and laundry time. I'm off.
