The Knitting Maevan

Sorry for the silence my pretties. I'm right in the middle of exams right now. All of my free time is being stolen away by projects and friends. Forgive me? No? Well, I promise to post pretty things soon. Maybe even tomorrow night if I'm feeling ambitious.

I went to the Knitting Meetup last night. Despite the terrible weather (freezing rain, hail, snow, all combined into one terrific evening of wind and uncomfortable chills), Lis and I walked to Bridgehead (our bus was a no-show). There, we met Gavin, Mary and Katherine. All very sweet folks. We some good small chats over tea, a to-die-for ginger cake and knitting. Everyone LOVED one of my christmas projects (even a woman who wasn't in our group stopped to comment on it, and asked how it was done).

Both women were absolute sweethearts. Mary, a fantastic Scottish lady, was working on a lovely pair of socks (her specialty, apparently. This woman thought size 6 needles were gigantic) made out of the most lovely handpainted varigated yarn (a mix of cream and browns). She managed to help Lis figure out her shaker's stitch (how Lis managed to translate the continental knitting method, I'll never understand). Katherine, the woman who organizes the meet ups, is a pretty lady who was practicing stitches and eyelets on a dishcloth. Gavin was Mary's son, an adorable bespectacled lad working on a rug, telling us stories of his girbles and cousins.

We spent the evening knitting, helping each other and discussing important matters such as our cats, our projects and whether or not we enjoy ginger. A good time was had by all, or, at very least, myself. :) I only wish I had thought to take pictures. Oh well. Next time. The next meetup is the Ottawa Central event, next Wednesday, the day after my last exam. Celebrate with some serious knittage.

Meanwhile, I'm starting to freak out about all of my Christmas crafts. ONLY 17 MORE DAYS!!! How will I ever get it done? In good Heather fashion, all last minute and graded at roughly B-A+. Heh. Still, some of you are getting gifts late. Deal :D

I'd like to take this moment to say: The new Knitty is fanfreakin'tastic!!! I love it! So many things I want to make. One day, my pet. One day.

Anyway, back to studying. I have my History Theory and Method exam tomorrow (basically, History of history). I loathe it. Despise it. I can't wait to have it done. Unfortunately, I have a whole other semester to deal with. *pout* C'est la vie.
