The shopping is mainly complete. What a stressful venture! I forgot how much I loathe shopping during the Holiday season. A quick side note: I'll post pictures of everything later (I'm at work right now).
Knit Knackers was nice, but I was kind of disappointed with the selection. The stuff they did have was lovely, but there wasn't much there. I ended up buying a random mess of Recycled silk which has managed to knot itself up terribly. Lis and I are trying to make sense of it, but it's looking bleak. At least it's a beautiful mess. I also managed to pick up some incredibly lovely Mohair for cheap (1$/skein!). We stopped by a Walmart on the way home and I picked up some bulk grey wool/acrylic and some fun red chenille.
The next day, Lis and I set out again. This time, we were off to Michaels and Walmart. We ran out of time and I wasn't able to visit the store on Bank & Slater or Yarn Forward. For the best really, as I realized this morning: I have no cash left! So much for that pay check. Anyway, at Michaels I ended up picking some absolutely stunning yarn that I just want to pet all the damn time. My friend Patrick threatened to keep a skein for himself after touching it. It's gorgeous. I also picked up the black worsted I needed, as well as the size 4 dpns. I am now ready to start on some gifts!
I'm still missing some blue bulky to go with the grey, but I think I'll use some of Lis's bulky navy mohair she got. If I like it, maybe I'll get some more of my own. I'm giving up on my personal projects for now. There's no way I can work on all of this at once.
In other crafty news, I also picked up some other stuff for Christmas. Lets see if you can put it all together: canvas, iron on transfers, sequins, rice and cheesecloth. I'm still in need of some wax, wicks, fabric, maybe some ribbon, tea and chocolate.
I started on a project today. I have decided that knitting with Bernat Satin is hell. Absolute hell. Especially on size 4 dpns. The yarn itself splits and squishes, it's so soft that it slides right off the tiny needles. I cast on and knit almost a complete round before messing up. I had to frog it thanks to the above problems. Not fun. I will get it done by the end of this week, time permitting (which, in reality, is quite impossible as a result of
this). I hope it turns out. It's the first pattern I've ever really worked on (lumpy leg warmers aside). It'll be the first time I ever decrease O_o. Scary. Oh! I striped for the first time the other day :D It was marvelous. It was everything Lis said it would be. How exciting. Now things get complicated. Bwa.
